New Hand-Dyed Yarn Arrival!

July 3, 2017

We’re very delighted to add another Canadian hand-dyed yarn company to our shelves! JOMA Yarn is the indie dyer project of Canadian colourist and fibre creative, Emjay Bailey. JOMA is an artisan family business run out of Vancouver Island, offering hand dyed art yarns with fun colourways that are rich, saturated and chaotic for non-pooling yarns that vary from flowing, subtle blends of layered colours to intense speckles.

We’ve now got 13 fabulous shades of JOMA Yarn’s Sock-a-Rino, a colour-rich, soft and lofty super wash fingering weight blend of 80% Merino and 20% nylon. Not just a great choice for sock knitting, but also for colourwork mittens, garments, accessories, fade patterns and shawls. The project possibilities are endless and so is the colour play fun!

JOMA’s Soul Kitchen Shawl is a free pattern download on Ravelry that requires two skeins of Sock-A-Rino. This pattern gives you the freedom to plan the shaping and construction of your own unique version. It’s a two part shawl that begins as a symmetrical triangle of slip stitch garter fabric, and flares to crescent or heart-shaped shawl shaping once you switch to your lace phase. Contrasting colours can be alternated anywhere throughout this colourful shawl recipe to make it truly your own.
