We couldn’t be more excited for this new season! September is the month we happily receive many boxes of brand-new yarn arrivals to fill up our shelves again. Wait until you see what’s coming… We’ve been keeping secrets for far too long and we can’t wait to share our new things with you very soon.
October is back to school time at 88 Stitches and the return of our evening socials and special events. It is, quite simply, the best time of the year for knitters and crocheters.
Please visit the classes section of our website for a preview of our beginner to intermediate knitting and crochet classes for October through December. We’re officially open for registration at the shop, starting on Saturday, September 9 at 10 am. Our classes fill up quickly! Be sure to register early to avoid disappointment.
A reminder that we accept registration for our classes in person with either cash or a cheque for each individual Instructor. We do not accept debit or credit card payment for classes, just for the supplies. At 88 Stitches our Instructors receive full payment for their classes and that is why we ask you to submit class fees to them directly by cash or cheque.
You may call or email us about the cost or for more information about our classes, but we don’t accept payment or registration holds over the phone. Please obtain a supplies list at registration time for each class and a 10% discount will be applied for all class supplies purchased at 88 Stitches.
We have more dates for our very popular knitting project clinics with Marilyn and for Carly’s fun crochet project clinics. Marilyn is also introducing a “My First Knitting Project” class for new knitters who wish to step up their knitting to the next level with Tin Can Knits’ The Simple Collection patterns.
Speaking of our friends Tin Can Knits, we’re looking forward to Alexa Ludeman’s Fair isle Yoke Workshop in November! In this three-hour class, Alexa will take intermediate knitters through bottom-up sweater construction and teach you how to plan and graph your own Fair Isle yoked sweater, based on Tin Can Knits’ sweater recipe. If you love knitting yoked sweaters, then you won’t want to miss this very informative workshop class.
We’re also happy to have Melissa Thomson of Sweet Fiber Yarns back to teach a two-part beginner cabled hat class, featuring her own popular design “Jason’s Cashmere Hat” (lovely photo at the top of the page). Knitted hats will make perfect gifts for your loved ones this winter.
Our evening socials will soon be back in full swing, along with some very special local designer knitwear trunk show visits. Don’t forget to pull out your calendars now to save these fun-filled dates! Here’s where you’ll find our events.
Wishing you the happiest of Fall stitching from all of us at 88 Stitches.
