Our second local designer meet and greet in a series of four-in-a-row Saturday trunk show events is happening this Saturday, October 21 from 12-4 pm. We’re pleased to welcome Josée Paquin of UandIKnit for a return visit to 88 Stitches!
Josée was born in Montreal, Québec and grew up in Abitibi-Témiscamingue. A couple of years ago she moved from Ontario to B.C., and we’re always excited and inspired when lovely Josée is able spend an afternoon with us.
This time Josée is bringing along the design samples from her new collaboration with Alberta designer Heidi Kirrmaier called Strong and Free. This Canadian themed collection by Heidi and Josée comprises 3 cardigans, 3 pullovers and 4 accessories. The samples are knit in yarns hand-dyed and/or produced in Canada; however, there are many possible yarn substitutions, which we can help you with at the shop.
We’ll have limited quantities of the Strong and Free printed book in stock on Saturday for the event, and our trunk show attendees will receive 10% off the yarn to knit one design from the collection.
One of the new yarn lines we have recently added to our shelves is Biches & Bûches Le Petit Lambswool and Le Gros Lambswool. The moment I read the story behind this family-owned company in the spring/summer edition of Laine #2 magazine, I immediately ordered some of their beautiful lambswool for myself and then I fell completely in love with it.
Astrid and Caroline – the mother-daughter team of Biches & Bûches (yes, I felt a kindred mom/daughter yarn connection here) are a Danish family, who have settled in France. Their lambswool is produced by another family-operated mill in Scotland, and the wool is amazing to work with! We’re delighted to have both their light fingering and worsted weight currently in stock, and I’m pleased to say it has been very well-received by many of our visitors.
We, along with Josée Paquin, look froward to seeing you again this Saturday!
