Meet The Teachers

Megan Fawkes believes that the best way to learn is by making mistakes.  She loves playing with gauge and pattern sizing to create uniquely tailored garments.

Alexa Ludeman is one half of the popular design team known as Tin Can Knits. Besides knit design, Alexa is a teacher, photographer, indie dyer, and mother to three beautiful children.

Sylvia McFadden is a knitwear designer and photographer from Vancouver, BC. Designer of the Lonely Tree and Waiting for Rain shawls. Find her & her designs here on Ravelry.

Marilyn O’Malley’s mission is to make thinking knitters: knitters who can “read” their knitting, understand it and knitters who are not afraid to question and deviate from a pattern.

Carlys Varkony loves helping new knitters and crocheters become confident and excited about their craft. She believes that knitting and crochet are skills that never stop developing and changing, and that there is always something new to learn.

Spotlight Colourwork Sweater Class

Instructor: Megan Fawkes

4 classes, maximum 5 students

Thursdays, May 25, June 1, 15 & 22 – 7:00 – 9:00 pm

With its straightforward, modern pattern, Tin Can Knits’ Spotlight yoked pullover sweater is a wonderful introduction to incorporating colourwork

and short row shaping into your sweaters! This pattern is worked from the bottom-up, using short rows to create an asymmetrical hemline. Never worked short rows before? Don’t worry! We’ll be covering the technique in class. We suggest making the 6-12 month size for this course.

There will be homework, so please be prepared to continue knitting between classes to keep up with the lesson plan. Skill Level: Confident Beginner (can knit, purl, cast on, and cast off)
